Frequently Asked Questions About Interlocks
Rescue and Seal is committed to the ultimate customer service experience, which also means answering any questions that you may have. We have included some of the most commonly asked questions we get but feel free to contact us with any additional ones you may have.
– Do I need interlock sealing?
Interlock, or any surface, should and can be protected from the many different environmental threats posed by the elements and by man. For example, over time interlock tends to dull due to exposure from the suns UV rays and acid rain. Also, spills such as oil, gasoline, car fluids, rust, food and cleaning chemicals can penetrate the surface, making these substances more difficult to remove. By protecting the surface with a sealer, it makes it much more difficult for these threats to damage your pavers. Sealer not only protects but brightens and enhances the hardscape, enhancing the visual aesthetics.
– Will I need to reseal?
In order to offer the best protection for your interlocks, it is a good idea to stay current with maintenance. That includes resealing when the time comes. Because these surfaces get a good deal of wear and tear and exposure to the elements, it is important to take good care of them. Re-sealing is generally a good idea every 3-5 years, although it depends on the amount of wear and tear and how much exposure to the elements your interlock surfaces get.
– How should I properly de-ice my interlock pavers?
When applying de-icing salts to your driveway we recommend the following: Caution should be used when applying any de-icing chemicals and always avoid excessive use. Calcium-based products or rock salt (Sodium Chloride) are both safe as de-icing chemicals. We recommend that you avoid using magnesium based products as they are very aggressive de-icing salts that cause damage to the surface. Sealing your interlock gives added protection from the harmful affects of de-icing salts.
– How do I choose the right interlock repair company?
Make sure you find a company that specializes in this service and is dedicated to providing superior customer care. There is a big difference in the results you get from a contractor that occasionally does paver work and those who are genuine industry experts.
– Is Rescue and Seal insured?
In addition to meeting all the other necessary criteria as a professional interlock company, we also have insurance coverage. This is a question that all homeowners should ask. If there is an accident on site and the company that is doing work is not insured the homeowner is partly responsible. Our company has a 5 million dollar liability policy that supports commercial/residential jobs for residential the minimum is 2 million dollars. Insurance clearance certificates are always available upon request. Plus all of our employees are covered under the WSIB (Workplace Safety and Insurance Board).
